Patrick Shiroishi and my new album, “The Invention of the Saxophone,” has been out for just about a month, and we are so thrilled with the response! I’m so incredibly thankful for everyone that has listened to and supported this project. If you haven’t checked out yet, it’s up on most streaming services and bandcamp (here).
We’ve also been very lucky to have some lovely press on the album including reviews on Avant Music News (here), The Wire’s June Issue, and Bandcamp Daily. It feels very surreal to see my work showcased on sites and magazines I’ve been reading for years, and I’m endlessly grateful for it!
Finally, some performance news! I recently returned from New York, where I participated in a Surface World showcase at Art Cake (videos below). It was such an incredible evening. Major shout outs to the folks at Art Cake for managing such a cool space, and to Kyle Combs, Briana Marela, and Sally Decker for their incredible performances. For everyone on the west coast, we’ll be doing another showcase at Something Poetic on August 12th in Los Angeles. Patrick and I will be performing our Saxophone/Saxafone duo alongside duos featuring Briana Marela + Sally Decker and Kyle Combs + Chris Taylor. More information to come.
Once again thank you for supporting my work and our new album. It means the world!
