Raw by Ulrich Krieger (version for trumpet and electronics)

Composed for saxophone and feedback by Ulrich Krieger, version for trumpet and Max by Ethan Marks and Cassiopeia Sturm 

Originally written for solo saxophone and feedback by German-born, LA-based performer/composer Ulrich Krieger, RAW receives a new treatment for solo trumpet and electronics by trumpeter Ethan Marks and technologist Cassiopeia Sturm. In this new version, Sturm created a SuperCollider and Max/MSP model of Krieger's unique pedal set-up. RAW bridges noise, electronica, death and doom metal, and contemporary extended instrumental techniques. The performer embodies a new virtuosity: in addition to controlling the sound by interfacing with the instrument, pedals, and software, the performer must become sculptural, physicalizing the sonic noise as performance object.
